The Kinks released their third live album of their long distinguished careers with `One for the Road' in June of 1980 but for all intents and purpose this was their first real live release.

Recordings for One for the Road began in March 1979 while the band was still recording Low Budget which wouldn't be released until September and ran through March of the following year. Originally released as a live double album in 1980 and now available on SACD Surround Sound, this is a brilliant energetic and powerful performance from the band with only Pete Quaife missing from the original line up. Not only is this the Kinks best live album, in my opinion its one of the best live albums of all time.
