This trip will take you past many area farmers markets where you can buy everything from pumpkins to fresh-pressed apple cider. He will be missed. It’s one of the road trips within PA that I’m most familiar with, and yet it’s also one of the long trips that I enjoy the most due to the dynamic scenery found along the way.

We’ll start off with the shorter trips, and work our way into the longer options: By far the shortest of the trips in this list, the back roads of Sewickley Heights and Fern Hollow Road in particular constitute some of my absolute favorite roads in Western PA. Drives to the west from Central Pennsylvania can replicate the trek into fall of the those to the north, and one of the most spectacular follows Route 30 west from York to Bedford and then Route 31 west to Newton.

Starting in one of my favorite towns in PA, Zelienople, this trip also provides you with a plethora of excellent shops, restaurants, and craft breweries and taverns to visit.
