This is a novel about revenge and it’s very justified too, given what those who are horribly murdered in this book inflicted upon their helpless victims. So when I saw this one I was a bit sceptical. There are shades of “12 Angry Men” in the scenes of the parents trying to convince one another to sign it. Yes, it is dark with many bloody explicit scenes but that's it. Obviously the book didn't meet my expectations. About 16% in there's a fairly graphic scene, and thinking back on it, it kind of makes me want to puke, but the rest are sort of left to your imagination. The number of gruesome deaths is rising so DS Grey and DS Miles need to get to the bottom of why this is happening. When Maria backs down on the cake-smuggling request, Marek (Csongor Kassai), the airport accountant, is so relieved that he offers to drive her to her country cottage, seemingly oblivious that he’s being pressed into a different kind of service.
